Are you one of those who dreams of creating a booming company? If so, you probably have an ambitious plan to expand your business into new markets. And unless you want to run your business in a vacuum, you must handle your business communications in a smart way. That?s why you have made the wise decision to get a hybrid phone system that supports both analog and VoIP lines: the Avaya IP Office 500.
Since you are reading this to learn how to install this system, you are already (most likely) well aware of the benefits of this all-in-one communications solution. So let?s not go there. Instead, let?s get down to business. We spoke to the experts at TelcoDepot and they taught us these three easy steps to install your Avaya IP Office phone system in no time:
# 1. Identify the Avaya IP Office Components
- The Avaya IP office control unit holds the main configuration and performs the routing and switching for telephone calls and data traffic. This control unit includes four slots to support trunk and phone extension ports. The slots are numbered 1 to 4 from left to right. Generally, they can be used in any order.
- The system SD (secure digital card) is used for the operating system and custom configurations
- The combination card allows you to integrate Avaya phones as well as trunks
- IP Office cables connect your phones to the main unit
- Phones: the Avaya IP Office system supports a variety of Avaya digital and IP phones
# 2. Install the Combination Card
Remove the Avaya IP office control unit from its box. The first step is to install the combination card into the main control unit. Use a screwdriver to open the first slot from left to right on the front of the unit. Take the combination card out of its box and insert it in the unit. Then make sure it clips into the place. To complete the installation of the combination card, you may need to secure by screwing the front of the unit.
# 3. Connect Your Digital and Analog Phones
Now, in the rear of the control unit you may find the System SD slot, where you may insert the secure digital card. Once you finish this quick installation, you are all set to connect your telephones by taking the cables and connecting them to the digital ports on the one side, and to your digital phones on the other side.
If you are going to use analog lines, use ports seven and eight. Connect the Power cable on the back of the control unit. Once you?ve set everything up, wait for about fifteen minutes and your IP 500 system should be up and running. Test if all of your phones ring and if their speakerphones work properly. Make a conference call to check if all of your analog and IP phones are all seamlessly connected.
