Facebook rolled out its killer feature Timeline earlier this week. This was updated to all their 800 million users on this social network. We gave you the Timeline launch in New zealand earlier this month. Now Timeline feature is available for you all. Many of you like this new feature, and many of you don’t. Eventhough Timeline offers new profile layouts, user interface and many interesting features, some users don’t find it interesting. They find this layout complicated, and the hundreds of doubts on the Facebook Help Center proves this. Actually it is a bit hard for new Facebookers to understand the Timeline concept, and it takes some time to get adjusted with this. So, users are looking for any working methods for disabling Timeline.
Disabling Facebook Timeline
Earlier Facebook released a Developer Application using which you could enable your Timeline before its launch to test it. Many of us including me, went that way to get Timeline enabled. If you enabled Timeline via that method, then you had the choice to downgrade to old profile layout just by deleting that app you created on Facebook Developers.
- Want to disable timeline?
But now, Facebook has stated that this feature will go live automatically after 7 days, no matter whether you like it or not. Since its rolled out globally, it should stay some more months live. Unfortunately, there is no way you can disable it, until a new solution comes up.
A Facebook spokesperson explains on the Facebook Blog.
“Once you click Get Timeline, you will have seven days to review everything that appears on your timeline before anyone else can see it. If you choose, you can publish your timeline right away. If you decide to wait, your timeline will go live automatically after seven days. Your timeline will replace your profile.”
Eventually everyone on Facebook will be rolled over to timeline. You are actually forced to get the new profile feature. Obviously this is an attempt to make Timeline more popular. When more users use it, its popularity will increase proportionately. Likewise, when Facebook launched Profile Ticker and Updated Newsfeed, people hated it and was searching for ways to disable it. Users had no other choice than to accept the change, and adjust with it
. A few users switched their networking backend to Google Plus. Actually it seems like Facebook is not much concerned about people’s personal opinions or protests against any updates, because they have known the fact, people will get adjusted with the new change, no matter whatever they are.
I actually find Timeline very interesting and almost unique. As there is no option to disable Timeline, the only partial solution would be to know more about Timeline, so that you can understand what is new in Timeline.
